Shomrei Fund Annual Campaign FAQ:
At Reich Hebrew Academy, ensuring the continuity of the Jewish people through Jewish education is our sacred responsibility and the reason for our existence. Fundraising is vital to both our financial well-being and our mission.
What is the Annual Campaign?
The Shomrei Annual Campaign is RHA’s largest fundraising effort of the year. All money raised goes directly towards operational expenses as tuition alone does not cover our expenses. Raising tuition to cover our actual costs and expenses would render THA inaccessible to many families.
Financial support of the community thus ensures that we are able to fulfill our mission and continue to deliver an exceptional Jewish education and cultural experiences to current and future students.
I can’t afford to make a large gift when I am already paying tuition (or I am on financial aid). Why should I participate?
The only gift that is too small is the one that is never made. RHA welcomes all gifts, regardless of dollar amount, and relies on everyone to contribute as a show of unified school and community support.
When we seek to fundraise from community members with no children at RHA, they often ask about the level of current family participation in our Annual Fund. If current families are not philanthropically supporting RHA and community, then why should anyone else? 100% parent participation sends a powerful message to the community at large: namely, that RHA is a special place and worthy of community support.
While contributing to our Annual Fund is not mandatory, it does show, however, that you are “all in” and that you have chosen to support the school, staff and faculty to whom you have entrusted your most important asset(s), your child(ren).
How much and should our family give?
Every family is asked to participate at a level meaningful to them. As noted, a gift of any size makes a difference.
Will my donation amount be listed publicly?
The specific amount of your donation will not be made public; however, it will be acknowledged, together with family name, as being within a range of other similar gifts, i.e, $1.00 - $500.00, etc. Of course, you also have the option of making an “anonymous” donation.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. As a 501(c)(3) organization, donations to RHA are 100% tax-deductible.
Can I donate stock?
Yes. Gifts of appreciated securities provide an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift, regardless of what you paid per share of stock. Instead of paying taxes on the gains, donated securities can offer significant tax advantages.
Can I use a credit card?
Yes. Please visit our secure donor page to do so.
Can I use an employer match or a volunteer grant?
Yes, matching gift and volunteer grant programs are great ways to double your donation. Many companies, such as eBay, Apple, Google, Intel, IBM, J & J, Netflix, and others, have matched previous donations and volunteer hours. Please contact THA Business Office or your company’s human resources department for more information.
Can I make a donation in honor or memory of someone?
Yes. Please note on the donation form if your gift is in honor of, or in memory of another, as well as instructions as to where an acknowledgement should be sent.
With whom can I speak about establishing an Endowment Fund?
Creating your legacy through gift planning with RHA will help generate the financial resources necessary to sustain our school for generations to come.
Gift planning offers you the opportunity to use financial, estate, investment, and philanthropic options to help meet your current philanthropic goals and extend your generosity well into the future.
