How old does my student have to be to enter Kindergarten?

Children need to be 5 years old by December 31st in order to enroll in the Kindergarten class.

Are there Extended Day Programs?

Yes, We recognize that many parents work full time or do not live close by. The Hebrew Academy's Kids’ Care offers extended care for our students. The Extended Day program provides a supportive environment with a variety of organized activities as well as restful, independent time for quiet activities and homework. Before School: Monday through Friday, 7:00 – 8:00 a.m., for Gr. 1-8; 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. for Toddler, Transition, Nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten. After School: Monday through Thursday, 3:15 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, varies according to Shabbat candle lighting; Kids’ Care schedule follows the school calendar

Is there Early Friday Dismissal?

Beginning on the Friday following the change to Standard Time, through the Friday after the change to Daylight Savings Time, dismissal will be at 2:00 p.m. to allow sufficient time for Shabbat preparations. Regular 3:15 p.m. dismissal resumes on the Friday following the change to Daylight Savings Time.

If my child comes to The Hebrew Academy in an older grade, does he/she need to know Hebrew?

No. The Mechina program is an introductory Hebrew program that enables students with limited or no Hebrew background to study Hebrew at their level.

Now that I have the Application, what do I do next?

If you have not visited the school, schedule a tour/interview by calling the Admissions Office, 732-431-5525. In addition, we offer individual tours as well as Open Houses several times during the academic year.

Will my child visit the school?

Yes, all children come for a visit as part of the application process. Children applying into Kindergarten will be scheduled for a small playgroup session in January or February. Older children (applying into grades 2 and up) will come for a one or two day visit to a Hebrew Academy classroom at their current grade level. Screenings and visits are scheduled once the application and application fee are received.

Does The Hebrew Academy have transportation?

Yes.Transportation is available from Monmouth and Ocean Counties. For information about bus transportation, please contact the school.
